Swim Ulster and Commonwealth Games Northern Ireland have published the Swimming and Para-Swimming Nomination Policy for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. Alongside the policy announcement, details of the Team NI Commonwealth Games weekend have been shared. The weekend (Friday 10th & Saturday 11th October 2025), titled ‘Towards 2026: Coaching for Commonwealth Success’, is aimed at long list athletes for the 2026 Commonwealth Games and their home programme coaches, where they are invited to attend a dedicated coaching weekend in Bangor.
The purpose of the weekend is to discuss the Nomination Policy, outline the Team’s preparation and planning, train together on key technical areas, and learn from 2022 British Coach of the Year, Dave Hemmings, Head Coach at the Loughborough Performance Centre. Dave will lead the pool sessions and work closely with coaches throughout the weekend to support their development as we build towards the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Invites will be sent to athletes and home programme coaches following the conclusion of the summer benchmark meets.
