Swim Ulster is deeply concerned by the recent attack on Larne Leisure Centre, a valued community facility that supports people of all ages through sport, health, and wellbeing. Incidents like this are unacceptable and especially troubling when they affect spaces that bring people together and promote positive activity.
We offer our full support to Larne Swimming Club, which is based at the centre and is widely regarded as one of the most respected clubs in Ireland. The club plays an important role in developing swimmers from grassroots Learn to Swim programmes through to high-performance athletes, including Olympians.
We recognise how upsetting and disruptive this incident will be for the athletes, coaches, volunteers, and families involved. Swimming across Ulster is a strong and supportive community, and we know many clubs will want to stand with Larne during this difficult time. We encourage clubs throughout the region to show their support—whether through practical help, temporary training options, or messages of encouragement.
Swim Ulster stands with Larne Swimming Club and will continue to provide support as they navigate the days and weeks ahead.
