Swim Ulster is inviting clubs across the province to work together through its new Club Collaboration Initiative, designed to support athlete development, strengthen coaching networks, and create meaningful opportunities for swimmers.
The initiative encourages two or more clubs to form partnerships and develop projects that meet the needs of their athletes and coaching teams. Proposals can include shared training opportunities, coach education programmes, talent development activities, or other innovative approaches that benefit participating clubs.
The programme has been developed in response to feedback from clubs seeking greater support and collaboration opportunities. A successful example of this approach can already be seen through the partnership between Ballymoney, Coleraine and Limavady, where clubs have worked together to deliver high-quality training sessions for selected athletes.
To get involved, clubs should:
- Engage with neighbouring clubs to explore opportunities for collaboration.
- Agree on the structure and objectives of the initiative.
- Consider logistics such as venue, timing and staffing requirements.
- Develop a funding and delivery plan.
- Submit a formal proposal to Swim Ulster.
Successful applicants will benefit from support including assistance with facility access, staff cover for up to two sessions per month, ongoing guidance, and opportunities to utilise Swim Ulster’s hub for coach and volunteer development.
Swim Ulster plans to initially support the two strongest applications, with the potential for further expansion as the programme develops.
Clubs interested in participating can request further information or submit proposals by contacting talentid@swimulster.com.
By working together, clubs can create stronger development pathways for athletes, share expertise, and help build a thriving future for swimming across Ulster.
